Subaru is the automobile manufacturing division of Japanese transportation company Fuji Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (FHI). FHI started out as "The Aircraft Research Laboratory" in 1917. In 1946, "The Aircraft Research Laboratory" now as the uji Sangyo Co, Ltd created its first abbit motor scooter with spare aircraft parts from the Second World War. But the Fuji Heavy Industries we know today only came in being in 1953-1955.
